My recent trip back to Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, was both a nostalgic and deeply fulfilling experience. Returning to Canossa Secondary School, the place where I began my journey of growth and discovery, was incredibly moving. Walking through the same halls that shaped my dreams, I was reminded of how far I’ve come—thanks to education and the support of my community. It was surreal to now stand there, not just as a former student, but as someone committed to giving back and uplifting young girls in the same environment that once uplifted me.
During this visit, I had the opportunity to meet with the sisters who continue to run the school with dedication and vision. Together, we discussed the plans for 2025, ensuring that the foundation’s mission remains aligned with the needs of the students and the community. One of the most exciting highlights of the trip was the selection of two exceptional students for the Mwezeshe Foundation Scholarship Program.
We have officially onboarded two young scholars:
- Form One Student: Has already begun her school year.
- Form Five Student: Will begin her academic journey in March.
These girls symbolize the mission of the Mwezeshe Foundation—removing barriers to opportunity and providing the support necessary for them to thrive and reach their full potential.
I am incredibly grateful to all of our supporters and donors who made this moment possible. Without your generosity, we would not have been able to launch this program and provide these scholarships. Your belief in the mission fuels our progress and helps transform dreams into reality.
But this is only the beginning! We are actively working on expanding our programs and will soon announce additional opportunities, including mentorship programs, career panels, and volunteer options for those who want to contribute their time and expertise.
This journey has reaffirmed my passion for education and empowerment. I am beyond excited to see where this foundation goes and how we can continue to uplift young women together. Thank you for being part of this story and helping us take these vital steps forward. Stay tuned for more updates as we continue to grow and make an impact!
With gratitude,
Huba Mduda
Founder, Mwezeshe Foundation
Please see below a picture of me from my graduation year in 2009. Standing in that same spot during this visit filled me with overwhelming gratitude. I am so thankful to experience this full-circle moment as I return to help others on their own journeys.
